In the wake of the embarrassing blunder committed by parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake channeling a pediatric neurologist to attend on him, the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) and the GMOA have made a unanimous decision to conduct a crash course to all elected parliamentarians so as to educate them on how to channel the proper doctor. “ It is quite distressing to hear mistakes of this manner committed by our MP’s.
It is abundantly obvious that they do not possess the proper rudimentary knowledge on medicine to make an informed decision. Therefore we have decided to take matters to our own hands and educate them before they further embarrass themselves in the news and social media platforms,” intimated a spokesperson of the GMOA. However, the minimum educational criteria must be fulfilled in order for this exercise to fruitful revealed the SLMC. “We have decided that all MP’s who have attempted successfully or unsuccessfully to sit for the G.C.E Ordinary Level examination on multiple occasions would be eligible for this course,” added a senior committee member of the SLMC.
