ඒ අනුව ගිනිසීරියා වගාව ස්වයං රැකියාවක් ලෙස ගෙවතුවගාවට හදුන්වාදීමේ අරමුණින් හෙක්ටයාර් 2000ක් වගාකිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ඊයේ (පෙබ 12) එප්පාවල වන සංරක්ෂණ කාර්යාලයේදී ආරම්භ කරන ලදී.

මෙමගින් කිසිදු පරිසර හානියකින් තොරව ජෛව ස්කන්ධ ඉන්ධන භාවිතයෙන් රටේ බලශක්ති අවශ්‍යතාවය 50%ක් සැපයිය හැකි බව අමාත්‍යංශය පෙන්වා දෙයි.ගිණිසීරියා  ශාකය ඉන්ධනයක් ලෙස භාවිත කිරීමේ ජාතික වැඩසටහනක් පිළිබදව විදුලිබල හා පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්ති අමාත්‍යංශයේ අවධානය යොමුව තිබේ.

ඒ අනුව ගිනිසීරියා වගාව ස්වයං රැකියාවක් ලෙස ගෙවතුවගාවට හදුන්වාදීමේ අරමුණින් හෙක්ටයාර් 2000ක් වගාකිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ඊයේ (පෙබ 12) එප්පාවල වන සංරක්ෂණ කාර්යාලයේදී ආරම්භ කරන ලදී.

අද අප රටේ බලශක්ති ඉල්ලුමෙන් වැඩි ප්‍රමාණයක් දායක වන්නේ දර ආශ්‍රිත ජෛව ස්කන්ධ ඉන්ධන භාවිතයෙන් වුවත් මෙම ඉන්ධන භාවිතය අවිධිමත් ඒත් වඩා ලාභදායී අවම පරිසර හානියක් ඇති මූලාශ්‍ර බව එම අවස්ථාවට සහභාගී වූ විදුලි බල හා පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්ති අමාත්‍ය රංජිත් සියඹලාපිටිය මහතා පැවසීය.

එසේම ගල් අගුරු සහ ඉන්ධන සදහා අප රටේ විශාල මුදලක් පිට රටට ඇදී යන බවත් එය අපේ ආනයන වියදමෙන් 40%ක් බවත්  එබැවින් වෙනත් විකල්ප බලශක්තීන් සදහා යොමු විය යුතු බවත් අමාත්‍යවරවා එහිදී පෙන්වා දුන්නේය.

ගිණිසීරියා පැළ හෙක්ටයාර් 2000ක් වගාකිරීමේ ව්‍යාපෘතියෙන් අනතුරුව මෙම දර ප්‍රමිතියට අනුව එකලස් කරන මධ්‍යස්ථාන රටපුරා ඇති කිරීමට කටයුතු කරනවා යැයිද මෙය අපේ ජනතාවට අනාගතයේදී ස්වයං රැකියාවක් ලෙස ව්‍යාප්ත කළ හැකි යැයිද හෙතෙම සදහන් කළේය.

මෙම ව්‍යාපෘතිය ශ්‍රී ලංකා සුනිත්‍ය බලශක්ති අධිකාරිය, එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ ලෝක ආහාර හා කෘෂිකර්ම සංවිධානය සහ විදුලිබල හා පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්ති අමාත්‍යාංශයේ ඒකාබද්ධ ව්‍යාපෘතියක් ලෙස ක්‍රියාත්මක කරන බවද විදුලි බල හා පුනර්ජනනීය බලශක්ති අමාත්‍යංශය පවසයි.

‘Crescent Global South Asia has transferred risk liability of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), to A – Rated Lloyd’s Syndicates and to A rated underwriters specializing in energy insurance,’ says Indrajith Fernando, Director of Crescent Global South Asia, which brokered the new risk reinsurance cover for CPC, for National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF).

In line with insurance market practices, the local insurer – National Insurance Trust Fund (NITF) – will no longer be retaining 100% of the risk. The cover in place is not only supported by Lloyd’s markets, but also by leading reinsurers from Singapore, and the global marine and energy insurance market.

CPC will be utilizing the expertise of the reinsurance market leaders supporting the programme to carry out comprehensive risk analysis, improving the risk quality of the insured property. The recommendations of these A-rated securities will help to reduce the size and frequency of future claims. Risk assessment of this standard is particularly important when handling a volatile commodity such as crude oil, and its derivative products such as petroleum.

‘Everybody was doing a regulation job neglecting to innovate, do the right thing and also do the necessary hard work. For instance, there were no mandatory covers which are a must for specialized installations such as Ceylon Petroleum Corporation. But now while there would be risk surveys being carried out, the liability too is being taken by Lloyds Syndicates with A rated securities from the world’s premier insurers, entailing substantial savings in premiums,’ says T. G. Jayasinghe, the Chairman of CPC.

CPC had previously encountered issues during claims recovery as the policies in place lacked the holistic and professional approach towards insurance cover, that is now provided for under CPC’s new insurance programme.

Reinsurance risk advisors of CSGA will be advising CPC officials on the finer aspects of their insurance programme, which will assist in improving the risk quality of CPC’s assets. Most notably, they would be providing their expertise on the handling of claims related to CPC’s technically sophisticated installations. In the event of an accident at the refinery or a storage calamity, the comprehensive insurance programme in place would ensure repairs and restitution are carried out efficiently, reducing the potential for any negative effects on Sri Lankan consumers and businesses.

A great deal more work needs to be undertaken going forward to establish suitable risk management protocols within CPC and its subsidiaries, with particular emphasis on establishing internationally accepted practices in both risk presentation, analysis and risk transfer. This approach will be not only be with regard to  the Sri Lankan insurance market but also distributed globally for the benefit of our various stakeholders.

Pro Food and Pro Pack and Agbiz Exhibition, Sri Lanka’s largest food, packaging and agriculture expo will be held from 4^th – 6^th August 2017 for the 16^th consecutive year at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Hall.

“This event which has witnessed an evolutionary increase over the decade will be held under the theme “from the farm to the fork denoting the entire chain of the food industry which include the inception of the food which mainly revolve around farms, to the process and finally, the food table of the consumer. This event is an excellent opportunity not only for large scale manufacturers but also for small and micro level manufacturers as well because all stakeholders from, the food processing sector participating for this national event, President Sri Lanka Food Processors Association, Maliek De Alwis said.

The exhibition and consumer fair scheduled to be held within a span of three days and expecting more than 20,000 to 30,000 visitors to the event and also help to interact with prospective buyers and also understand the new technology that is being used for the sector, due to foreign participation. Moreover, the event will feature all facets of the food and beverage industry and will include intricate details and the meticulous process that is required, for food products in order to make them available to the consumer. During the event Institute of Science and Technology will present its annual research paper will be presented and several other institutes will conduct several training programms for interested parties he said.

Executive Director, Hayleys, Agriculture Sector Mr. Rizvi Zaheed said, this event is renowned for providing a unique and comprehensive platform for the discovery and introduction of food processing, engineering and packaging services among the host of other benefits both the visitors and the stall holders would receive. This event would enable to show case the progress that Sri Lanka has made in the agro business sector during the last so many years. Therefore, this event is an ideal platform for prospective persons who are interested in the agriculture sector including agriculture graduates, interested parties. All stakeholders in the agriculture sector will be participating for this event, which will help Sri Lanka to getting into the international value chain in the food industry he said.

Mr. Dhammika Gunasekara one of the active persons in the move said that at this year’s expo is the two separate pavilions from the largest global players in the Industry India and China. Over 80 companies from India and China will participate at this year event. The event is set to attract all stakeholders from many South East Asian countries as well. He said that Ministry of Industries will sponsor for the SME and micro sector entities pavilion. Since the all the countries participated since this inception in 2001 and are now increasing the number new manufacturer’s participation, which has created a space problem, Gunasekera said

The event has been earmarked as ‘a must attend’ throughout the entirety of its existence, and has been renowned for providing all visitors and stall holders a unique experience and also this year would be the 16^th consecutive year is an excellent platform to understands the industry trends in the world because several foreign participation would share their knowledge and knowhow for the local manufactures, founder of the event Mario De Alwis said.

This is the only exhibition of its kind to be held in the Island and over the years it has been known to provide each visitor and stall holder with a unique and unparalleled experience in terms of networking, sales leads and knowledge.

CEO, LECS Mr. Aasim Mukthar said that more than 350 stalls have been allocated for the local and foreign manufactures, which is the biggest event in the country in relation to the food and agriculture sector.

The exhibition is supported and endorsed by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. The National Agri Business Council join hands with the organizers to provide an insight to the agri business areas.

The Sri Lanka – Thailand Business Council visited Thailand from the 1^st – 4^th of February for B2B meetings and Bi-lateral talks with their Thai counterparts.

The 11 Member high-powered business delegation from Sri Lanka met with members of the Federation of Thai Industries and Board of Trade of Thailand to promote investment opportunities and joint ventures in Sri Lanka.

The meetings with the government body associations were followed by a full day B2B session comprising of over 60 Small and Medium Scale business at the Marriot Marquis Hotel in Bangkok. The B2B was organized with the assistance from the Department of International Trade and Promotion in Thailand. (DITP). The Delegates from Sri Lanka were introduced to over 60 business establishments looking to do business with Sri Lanka. The B2B meetings were hugely successful with members establishing direct contacts and leads for goods and services. Some of the Sri Lankan delegates signed up direct orders immediately with Thai companies.

The Sri Lankan delegation comprised of 11 companies in diversified fields of business. The delegation was led by the President of the business council, Mr. Rizan Nazeer of Transtrade International and included Mr. Lionel Fernando from  Benjarong (Pvt ) Ltd, Mr. Asgar A.M. Musajee from M.M. Noorbhoy & Co. , Mr. Lalith Kumarage from Alucare (Pvt) Ltd, Mr. Rienzi Fernando of Roots Global (Pvt) Ltd Mr. Anverali Akbaraly of Raj Sons (Pvt) Ltd, Mr. Luxman Peiris of Dibbo Rubber Industries, Mr. Aasim Mukthar of Lanka Exhibition and Conference Services, Mr. Waruna Peiris of Waruna Printers & Publishers 

Mrs. Kshenuka Senavirathna the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand also participated at the meetings. During the talks the Sri Lanka delegation extended a warm invitation to their Thai counterparts to visit Sri Lanka and see firsthand the developments taking place.

චීනයේ පැවැත්වෙන සමුළුවකට සහභාගීවීම අග්‍රාමාත්‍යවරයාගේ එම සංචාරයේ අරමුණ බව කරුණාසේන කොඩිතුවක්කු මහතා සඳහන් කළේය.

පසුගියදා හම්බන්තොටදී ඇති වූ සිද්ධිය පිළිබඳව ද මාධ්‍යවේදීන් සිදු කළ විමසීමකදී ඔහු සඳහන් කර ඇත්තේ අදාළ සිදුවීම විපක්ෂයේ ඉතා  සුළු පිරිසකගේ කඩාකප්පල්කාරී ක්‍රියාවක් බවයි.

Consumer price inflation in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo rose to 5.5% from a year ago after having risen 4.5% in December, the government’s statistics department said.

Prices rose 1.2% during the month, up from a rise of 1% in December 2016, data from the statistics office showed.

The 12-month moving average of the Colombo Consumer Price Index rose to 4.3% in January from a 4% rise a month ago.

The core CCPI index moved up to 7% in January 2017, the highest in just over a year, from 5.8% in December 2016.

රජය මත යැපීමට බලා නොසිට සියලු පුරවැසියන් යම් බදු ගෙවීමක් කළ යුතු බව බෑන්කර් තහවුරු කරන බව මුදල් අමාත්‍යංශය පවසයි. මෙහි ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ බදු ගෙවන්නන්ගේ ලිපි ගොනු 2015 පැවති ලක්ෂ 7ක ප්‍රමාණය මේ වන විට ලක්ෂ 14 දක්වා ඉහළ ගොස් ඇති බවද එම සගරාව පෙන්වා දෙන බවද මුදල් අමාත්‍යංශයේ අදහසයි.

ජාත්‍යන්තර අරමුදලින් ඇමරිකානු ඩොලර් බිලියන1.5ක පමණ ණය ලබා ගැනීමට හැකි වීමත් මෙරට ආර්ථික වර්ධනය කළමනාකරණය කරමින් ස්ථාවර තත්ත්වයට ගෙන ඒමට හැකි වීමත් මෙම අගය කිරීමට හේතු වී ඇති බව පවසයි. වැඩිදුරටත් අදහස් පළ කරන මුදල් අමාත්‍යංශය පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ ගෙවුම් ශේෂය හේතුකොටගෙන ඇතිවන මූල්‍ය අර්බුද වළක්වා ගැනීමට සමත් වීම මෙන්ම රටේ මුදල් සංචිත යථා තත්ත්වයට ගෙන එමින් විදේශ ආයොජකයන්ගේ විශ්වාස යළි ගොඩනැගීමට මුදල් අමාත්‍යවරයාට හැකි වීම මෙම අගය කිරීමට හේතු වී ඇති බවයි.

 

 

2017 වසරේ රාජ්‍ය ණය වැඩසටහන ක්‍රියාත්මක කිරීම සඳහා ඇමෙරිකා එක්සත් ජනපද ඩොලර් මිලියන 1,500ක් දක්වා වූ ශ්‍රී ලංකා සංවර්ධන බැඳුම්කර, ශ්‍රී ලංකා මහ බැංකුවේ අධීක්ෂණය යටතේ නිකුත් කිරීම පිණිස මුදල් අමාත්‍ය රවි කරුණානායක මහතා ඉදිරිපත් කළ යෝජනාව අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් අනුමත කර තිබේ.

දේශීය ණය ගැනීමේ වැඩසටහනේ නම්‍යශීලිභාවය හා රටෙහි සංචිත ශක්තිමත් කිරීම මෙහි අරමුණ බව රජයේ අදහසයි.
