Consumer price inflation in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo rose to 5.5% from a year ago after having risen 4.5% in December, the government’s statistics department said.
Prices rose 1.2% during the month, up from a rise of 1% in December 2016, data from the statistics office showed.
The 12-month moving average of the Colombo Consumer Price Index rose to 4.3% in January from a 4% rise a month ago.
The core CCPI index moved up to 7% in January 2017, the highest in just over a year, from 5.8% in December 2016.
